Submissions can be either joint locks or chokes.

In order to publish your work, we need one-time publishing rights, and your piece will be archived indefinitely. Please don't submit any work that has been previously published, as we feel that's kind of hack. Challenge yourself and write something new.

Copyright on all work is retained by the respective authors.

Simultaneous submissions are generally frowned upon, but we're not going to check up on you. Just know that Duotrope.com has us listed among the top 25 swiftest responders out of more than 2000 publications. Still, if you must submit simultaneously, please notify us as soon as possible if your work is accetped elsewhere.

Send your work either as a Word document or embedded in an email. As part of your email, let us know whether the piece is fiction, poetry, or nonfiction. Attach a short bio with the work.

Please limit prose submissions to 5000 words, and please send no more than five pieces of poetry per submission.

If you haven't heard back in a month, then something has gone wrong, and you are encouraged to send a follow-up query.

Your work may indeed be edited prior to publication. Editors may ask the original writer to make some larger changes before a piece's acceptance.

Submissions can be sent, appropriately, to submissions@thievesjargon.com.
